For some much needed nature therapy and down time, we explored the Laguna Mountains in Cleveland National Forest over the weekend. Nestled under pine trees in higher elevations, we got a little break from the heat wave in San Diego. The guys rode some fun new bike trails and played card games late into the night. I love that they’re doing stuff together before we take Kai back to Cal Poly for his fifth and final year.
I tried to relax and do nothing but breathe after an intense couple of months. I watched tall wheatgrass sway and dance in dappled light. I felt a cool breeze on my face while I read a book. I made friends with a hungry woodpecker who likes blueberries. I explored a meadow filled with hundreds of tiny frogs jumping at my feet. Baby Yoda was in heaven. I worked on my moon project. We were near Julian and stopped by for some prerequisite apple pie and our favorite apple cider.
Before we got our camper van, we had no idea were so many campgrounds within a short drive from home. Do you have favorite campgrounds in SoCal? Or favorite places to boondock on BLM land? If so, please share.
